Rev. Isaac Baah’s Biography
Following his graduation senior high school at Mfantsipim Secondary in Ghana (1989-1991),
Isaac Baah went to the University of Cape Coast and graduated with first-class honors in
Mathematics in 1987. He then proceeded to Wesley Girls High School for his National Service
(1997-1998), after which he took the GRE and got a scholarship to do graduate studies at the
University of Vermont in the United States of America (1999).
Isaac enrolled with the United Ghanaian Community Church (UGCC) as a member in 1999 and
was later elected to serve on the Board of Session as ruling elder, which paved the way for him
to serve on various committees and commissions not only in the church but also in the
Presbytery of Philadelphia.
After graduating with a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from University of Vermont in
2001, Isaac undertook another graduate program in Actuarial Science at the University of
Connecticut and graduated in 2003 and was subsequently employed by an insurance company
called VOYA as an Actuary in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 2004.
In 2015, after several years of discernment through prayer, and with encouragement and support
from Rev. Dr. Kobina Ofosu-Donkoh and other well-wishers, Isaac left his job as an Actuary to
pursue graduate studies in ministry at Princeton Theological Seminary where he graduated with a
master’s degree in theology in 2018. Isaac Baah was ordained as minister of Word and
Sacrament by the Presbytery of Philadelphia in 2021 and serves as the Senior Pastor of the
UGCC.
Isaac has served on various committees and commissions of the Presbytery of Philadelphia,
including the Search Committee for the nomination of the current Executive Presbyter of the
Presbytery in (2014). He served as a Commissioner to the 221st General Assembly of the
PCUSA in Detroit, Michigan (2014). He also served as the treasurer of the Conference of
Ghanaian Presbyterian Churches in North America for six years (2014-2020). He currently
serves on the Commission on Resource and Creative Ministry of the Presbytery and is also
serving as Director on the Board of Pensions of the PCUSA.
Rev. Isaac Baah holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Mathematics) from the University of Cape
Coast, a Master of Science degree (Applied Mathematics) from the University of Vermont, a
second Master of Science degree (Actuarial Science) from the University of Connecticut, and a
Master of Divinity degree from the Princeton Theological Seminary.
Rev. Isaac Baah hails from Akyem Awisa in the Eastern Region of Ghana, where he received his
basic education at the local Primary and Middle Schools, and his secondary education at the
Akim Swedru Secondary School (Ordinary Level) and Mfantsipim Secondary School in Cape
Coast (Advanced Level).
Isaac is happily married to his wife, Gina, and together, they have three children (Elizabeth, Joel
and Gabriel). Rev. Baah likes to watch soccer in his leisure time and loves to learn about civilizations and different cultures.
